Why I built this

創辦人的話

I needed some me-time to work, to think, to do things I like.我需要一點屬於自己的時間，去工作、去思考、去做自己喜歡的事。

I work from home and have spent three summers in Tokyo with my kids, trying private tutors, Japanese classes and painting classes to find what they really get into. This brings the best of it together for visiting families, starting with Japanese: small classes, a few hours a day, native teachers I trust with my own kids.我是在家工作的媽媽，連續三個暑假帶小朋友來東京，試過私人日語老師、日語班、繪畫班，找出真正讓他們投入的活動。現在我把最好的集合起來，專為來東京的家庭而設，先由日語開始：小班教學、每天幾小時、日籍老師，都是我放心交託自己小朋友的人。

Tokyo Weekday Club partners with Makkam Language Room in Meguro. My kids have been learning there for two years, in Tokyo and then online once we were back home. We know the teachers well. They are native Japanese speakers, and they are loving and patient with every child. My child speaks zero Japanese. Is that OK?小朋友完全不懂日文，可以嗎？+

Absolutely. Level 1 is made for complete beginners. By the first pick-up, your child will already know how to introduce themselves and say thank you properly in Japanese.當然可以。Level 1 專為零基礎的小朋友而設。第一天放學時，小朋友已經懂得用日文自我介紹，也會有禮貌地說謝謝。

We're only in Tokyo for a week. Can we join?我們只來東京一個星期，可以嗎？+

Yes, that's exactly who we designed this for. Many of our families are only in Tokyo for a short stay, so you can join us for just one week. If your child loves it, stay a little longer. The full Level 1 takes 3 weeks.可以，課程正是為你們而設計。很多家庭都只是短暫停留東京，所以參加一個星期就可以。如果小朋友喜歡，歡迎多留一點時間，完整的 Level 1 是3個星期。

What's the shortest commitment? And the longest?最短可以報讀多久？最長呢？+

Start with just 1 week. If your child wants to keep going, 3 weeks completes Level 1. We're already working on Levels 2 to 5 for kids who want to come back for more.最短只需1個星期。如果小朋友想繼續學，3個星期就能完成 Level 1。我們也正在籌備 Level 2 至 5，歡迎想學更多的小朋友回來。

Do you only have one location?目前只有一個上課地點嗎？+

What languages do the teachers speak?老師上課會說甚麼語言？+

Classes are taught in Japanese. That's part of the fun! But all of our teachers speak English too, so your child will always have someone to turn to if they need help. For parents, we're happy to chat in English or Chinese over WhatsApp.課堂以日語進行，這正是樂趣所在！不過每位老師都懂英文，小朋友有需要時隨時可以求助。家長可以用英文或中文與我們溝通，主要透過 WhatsApp 聯絡。

Can siblings of different ages join?不同年齡的兄弟姊妹可以一起報名嗎？+

Definitely. We love having siblings join together. Kids are grouped roughly by age, 6–8 and 9–12, and classes run at the same time, so you can drop everyone off and pick everyone up together.當然可以，我們很歡迎兄弟姊妹一起來。班別大致分為6–8歲和9–12歲，並在同一時段上課，可以一起送小朋友來、一起接放學。

Who runs the program?課程由誰負責？+

Tokyo Weekday Club creates the program around the needs of families visiting Tokyo, with input from MAKKAM Language Room. Every class is taught by MAKKAM's Japanese teachers. We each do what we do best.Tokyo Weekday Club 按照旅遊家庭的需要設計課程，並由 MAKKAM Language Room 提供專業教學意見。所有課堂均由 MAKKAM 的日籍老師教授，各自發揮所長。

Who will be teaching my child?誰會教我的小朋友？+

Every class is taught by MAKKAM's Japanese teachers, and everyone teaching at Tokyo Weekday Club is a mom herself.

As a mom, I know what it's like to leave your kids somewhere new, especially in another country. Your mind goes to a hundred places. That's why it was really important to me that the people looking after our kids are parents too.

I want you to drop them off knowing they're with someone who understands kids, looks out for them like a mom would, and gives you that extra peace of mind to go enjoy Tokyo for a few hours.

所有課堂都由 MAKKAM 的日籍老師教授，而每一位在 Tokyo Weekday Club 教學的老師，自己也是媽媽。

作為媽媽，我很明白把小朋友交到一個陌生地方的心情，尤其是在外地，心裡總會浮現一百種擔心。所以對我來說，照顧小朋友的人自己也是父母，是特別重要的一件事。

我希望你放下小朋友的時候，知道他們身邊的人懂得小朋友，會像媽媽一樣照顧他們，讓你可以放心地去享受幾小時的東京時光。

Is food provided?會提供食物嗎？+

We generally don't provide food or drinks because of allergies. Some classes may involve making food together, and we'll always ask you first. Kids are welcome to bring a snack and water bottle for breaks.考慮到食物過敏，我們一般不提供食物或飲品。部分課堂可能會一起製作簡單食物，我們一定會事先徵求家長同意。小朋友可以自備小食和水，小息時享用。

How do I pay from overseas?海外家長如何付款？+

Save a card when you book through Stripe (Visa, Mastercard or AMEX). Nothing is charged that day. Once your class is confirmed, we charge in Japanese yen and your card handles the conversion.預約時透過 Stripe 網上儲存信用卡(Visa、Mastercard、AMEX)，當日不會扣款。班別確認開班後，我們以日圓收費，匯率換算由你的信用卡處理。

Can I leave my kids longer than 3 hours?可以讓小朋友留超過3小時嗎？+

We hope you'll spend the rest of the day together. It's your holiday too. For longer days, we're talking with a neighbourhood art school our own kids attended about adding a 2-hour art program, making up to 5 hours altogether. Message us for the latest.我們鼓勵家長在假期裡多陪伴小朋友。如果需要更長時間，我們正在與附近一間美術教室洽談（我們自己的小朋友也在那裡上過課），提供2小時的美術課程，加起來一天最多可達5小時。歡迎聯絡我們了解最新消息。

What's the cancellation policy?取消政策是怎樣的?+

Before your week is confirmed, cancel anytime; you haven't been charged yet. Once confirmed, cancellations 14+ days before class receive a 50% refund; less than 14 days and no-shows are non-refundable. Child unwell? Send us a medical certificate and we'll move you to another week for free. Flight problems? We'll do the same.星期確認開班前，可隨時免費取消，因為尚未收費;請使用確認電郵內的取消連結。星期確認並收費後，開課前14天或以上通知可退款50%;少於14天或缺席恕不退款。如小朋友生病，請提供醫生證明，我們會免費改期至另一週;航班問題亦可聯絡我們安排改期。
